Subdivision followed the railway in 1900, but commercial development was not allowed, and some of Sydney's best domestic architecture is displayed in Warrawee houses built before World War II. WebAllawah lies within the municipality of Kogarah and was originally part of Carlton and Hurstville. The suburb, which is sandwiched between the other two, was named after Allawah railway station opened on 23 October 1925. Allawah extends from the railway line south to Blakesley Road near the site of Blake's quarry.
